LSU football signs elite edge rusher Chris Whitehead for 2027

On June 17, LSU football secured a commitment from 2027 edge rusher Chris Whitehead. The Chesterfield, VA native chose LSU over South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State. At six-foot-four and 230 pounds, Whitehead has been rated as a four-star recruit and is ranked No. 53 overall and No. 8 among defensive ends by Rivals. He is also the consensus top player from Virginia across major recruiting services, boosting LSU's 2027 recruiting class to No. 9 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC. Whitehead’s commitment marks another success for head coach Lane Kiffin as LSU continues to strengthen its roster this summer.
