LSU Tigers defense ranks highly in NCAA through four weeks

As of October 1, 2026, the LSU Tigers' defense has shown elite performance in NCAA rankings. Despite a loss to Ole Miss, which skewed some statistics, LSU ranks second nationally in rushing defense, allowing only 47.5 yards per game. They also stand third in total defense with a modest 226.8 yards per game. The defense has been bolstered by key players like Princewill Umanmielen, who leads in sacks with seven. While injuries might pose challenges, the defense's overall ability remains a crucial asset as LSU aims for a College Football Playoff spot in the ongoing season.
