Luke Guth drafted by Chicago Cubs in 19th round of MLB Draft

Luke Guth, a 22-year-old pitcher from Franklin and former Vanderbilt player, was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 19th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 12. After completing his junior year at Vanderbilt, where he went 7-3 with a 4.08 ERA, Guth also showed impressive form with Mahoning Valley this summer, allowing just one earned run in three innings. He follows in the footsteps of his brother, Zach, who was drafted in 2018. Guth was recognized as an all-state talent during his time at Franklin and was highly rated in Pennsylvania high school baseball prior to joining Vanderbilt.
