Luke Weaver reports battling case of poison ivy since joining Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Luke Weaver disclosed that he has been dealing with a severe case of poison ivy for nearly a month. The right-hander stated that he contracted the condition after brushing against a bush during a trip to Miami three weeks ago. Weaver noted that the resulting hives and physical discomfort have significantly hindered his ability to sleep throughout his tenure with the team. Since being acquired from the New York Mets, Weaver has struggled on the mound, posting a 5.79 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP over 10 appearances. He remains under contract with the Pirates for the 2027 season. The veteran previously recorded a 1.84 ERA across 42 games for the Mets earlier this year.
