Lyon dismisses Benzema return rumors as media noise amid Saudi contract issues

Summary

Lyon's sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean has refuted speculation linking Karim Benzema with a return to the club. During an interview, Louis-Jean explained that despite the public interest, the proposed move was never feasible due to Benzema's ongoing contract in Saudi Arabia. He characterized the transfer talk as more media chatter than a legitimate opportunity. Benzema, who started his career at Lyon before moving to Real Madrid in 2009, currently remains a free agent but faces complications from his previous contract. Lyon is now redirecting its focus towards other transfer targets for the upcoming January window, including forward Elmin Rastoder from Panathinaikos.
