Mackie Samoskevich has been traded to the Seattle Kraken from the Florida Panthers for the No. 25 pick and a future second-round pick. The 23-year-old forward hopes to enhance the Kraken's offense, which struggled last season, averaging only 2.73 goals per game. Samoskevich seeks to model his game after Martin St. Louis while adapting to a new environment in Seattle, where he may leverage support from his twin sister, Maddy, who plays professionally in the area. Discussions regarding a new contract are anticipated as he aims to prepare for training camp.
- •Samoskevich averaged 0.4 points per game over his NHL career.
- •The Kraken have missed the playoffs four times in five seasons.
- •Samoskevich is a restricted free agent pending contract negotiations.
- •He was the No. 24 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
- •Kraken re-signed Bobby McMann to a long-term deal.
