Madison defeats Jay 21-0 to open season with back-to-back shutouts

Madison extended its season-opening defensive streak Friday night with a 21-0 shutout against Jay at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio. The Mavericks have now held opponents scoreless in two consecutive games, following a season-opening victory over New Braunfels Canyon. Madison secured an early lead after scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 27-yard pass from Brady Eggleston to Elijah Brito and an 11-yard run by Decoreion McMillian. The Mavericks defense limited Jay to 207 total yards and forced four turnovers, highlighted by a 53-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Ay'dein Armstrong in the fourth quarter. Although the team committed 128 yards in penalties, head coach Myles Duelm noted the squad is trending in the right direction. Madison will shift its focus to a road game against San Marcos next Friday.
