Maeve Staunton wins Gatorade girls soccer player of the year award

Maeve Staunton of Northwest Catholic was named the Gatorade girls soccer player of the year on June 21, 2026. The midfielder led her team to a 15-6-1 record and the Class M state final, where they narrowly lost to Foran, 3-2. Over her career, Staunton scored 62 goals and made 52 assists. A two-time All-New England and three-time All-State selection, she will continue her soccer career at UConn this fall. Staunton also played basketball, contributing to three state titles during her time at Northwest.
