Mainz 05 has sent attacking midfielder Hyun-seok Hong on a season-long loan to Danish club FC Midtjylland. The move provides the 16-time South Korea international with a chance for regular minutes in the league, domestic cup, and the Conference League. Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert stated that while the midfielder demonstrated strong form during preseason, he could not be guaranteed playing time due to intense competition within the current squad. Hong remains under contract with the German side until 2028. This move follows the midfielder's previous loan spells at KAA Gent and FC Nantes.
