Malachi Nelson set to start for Syracuse against Virginia

Malachi Nelson is expected to start at quarterback for Syracuse against Virginia on October 10. This will mark Nelson's first starting appearance for the Orange, as both Amari Odom, who was listed as 'Doubtful,' and original starter Steve Angeli, who is 'Out,' are unavailable. Nelson, formerly a top recruit, has experience from previous seasons at UTEP, Boise State, and USC. The Orange are still seeking their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the 2026 season, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET at Scott Stadium.
