Man Utd ahead of Arsenal for Mateus Fernandes amid Real Madrid interest

Summary

Manchester United has reportedly taken the lead over Arsenal in the pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who is leaving the club after its relegation to the Championship. United aims to meet West Ham's £80 million valuation, while Arsenal is unwilling to do so. This development follows a request from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid for the club to consider signing Fernandes. Last season, Fernandes made 38 league appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists. United has already signed Ederson from Atalanta and may add another midfielder, depending on the fate of Manuel Ugarte.
