Manchester United lost 1-0 to a 10-man Manchester City side at Old Trafford on September 13. Erling Haaland scored the winning goal for the visitors in the 60th minute after a VAR review determined he was onside despite a prior flag. The goal followed the dismissal of Phil Foden, who received a red card for kicking out at Bruno Fernandes. Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick criticized the officiating, specifically questioning the interpretation of interference rules regarding the buildup to the goal. United remain 13th in the league table after failing to secure points in three of their last four matches. The club now prepares to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
