Manchester City signs Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea in late summer deal

Manchester City finalized the acquisition of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea just before the summer transfer window closed. The midfielder, who previously helped Chelsea secure the 2025 Europa Conference League and Club World Cup titles, had signaled his desire to leave earlier this year. Despite attempts by Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso to retain the player, an agreement was reached for a £125m transfer fee. The deal followed a failed pursuit by Chelsea to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco as a replacement, after the French club retracted their agreement to sell the player. Chelsea has now generated over £425m in player sales during the summer transfer window. Fernandez moves to Manchester City after falling out of favor at Stamford Bridge, where he was jeered by supporters during a pre-season friendly.
