Manchester United close to signing Ederson from Atalanta this summer

Summary

Manchester United aims to strengthen its central midfield this summer with the acquisition of Ederson from Atalanta. Following Casemiro's departure and uncertainty regarding Manuel Ugarte's future, Ederson's addition is seen as a crucial step toward resolving midfield issues. With fee agreements in place, Ederson, who has excelled in Serie A, is expected to enhance United's transition from defense to attack. His ability to make forward passes and create chances may complement fellow midfielder Kobbie Mainoo well. As the 2026 World Cup approaches, United is pushing to finalize this signing amid the need for depth in their squad to tackle European competitions next season.
