Manchester United contemplates future as Conte appears on shortlist

Summary

Manchester United considers its managerial future after a slow start to the 2026/27 season under Michael Carrick. The team sits 12th in the Premier League with just one win after five games and has exited the EFL Cup following a 3-2 defeat to Brighton. Managerial rumors are swirling around Antonio Conte, who recently expressed a desire to return to coaching. While he is reportedly on United's shortlist if Carrick is dismissed, the club is currently backing Carrick to reverse the team's fortunes. Conte's impressive track record in the Premier League adds to speculation about his potential as a replacement.
