Manchester United joins competition for Atletico Madrid's Pablo Barrios

Manchester United has entered the pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios, monitored recently during a Champions League match where he scored against them. The 23-year-old Spain international has caught the attention of other clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Liverpool. United made an initial enquiry about Barrios as they seek to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2027 transfer windows. However, Atletico’s €500 million release clause complicates any potential transfer, as the club sees him as crucial to their squad plans. Discussions about a January move appear unlikely, with summer offers more feasible given Atletico's current firm stance.
