Manchester United monitors Alejandro Balde for potential January transfer window move

Manchester United remains interested in Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde following a failed pursuit during the summer transfer window. The Premier League club sought a permanent deal or a loan with a mandatory purchase option for the 22-year-old, but financial constraints and Barcelona’s insistence on a permanent transfer prevented a deal. Fabrizio Romano noted that while the initial attempts were unsuccessful, the situation remains active as the player seeks more consistent playing time. Balde has not appeared in any of Barcelona's five matches this season, remaining on the bench throughout. Although Balde has an affinity for the Spanish club, his lack of minutes may influence future transfer discussions. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s alternative target Ian Maatsen is expected to sign a new contract with Aston Villa, removing him from consideration.
