Manchester United seeks progress in summer stadium negotiations

Summary

Manchester United aims to secure a breakthrough in negotiations with Freightliner over land for a new stadium this summer. The club has indicated that negotiations have been ongoing yet have shown little visible progress, following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's vision for a 100,000-capacity venue near Old Trafford. Finalizing a deal with Freightliner is crucial for determining the stadium's design and funding details. Officials believe the project could advance quickly once land is confirmed, with construction potentially beginning within two years. Chief executive Omar Berrada expressed hope for developments in the coming weeks or months.

What they're saying

"
Manchester United officials are hoping to make a breakthrough in their negotiations with Freightliner over the land needed to build their proposed new stadium this summer. Whilst the club have stressed work has been going on behind the scenes, there has been little evidence of movement on the project since minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe unveiled his grand vision for a 100,000-capacity ground close to the current stadium at Old Trafford last March. A deal with Freightliner is understood to be the key to unlocking the project.
