Manon Rhéaume named general manager of PWHL Detroit franchise

Manon Rhéaume has been appointed as the first general manager of Detroit's upcoming PWHL franchise on May 15. A former goalie, Rhéaume is known for being a pioneer in women's hockey, achieving notable feats such as being the first woman to play in an exhibition game for a major North American men's league. Born in Quebec, she had a professional career from 1992 to 2009, winning multiple medals for Canada, including silver at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Rhéaume has lived in Michigan since 2005, strengthening her ties to the area and the Red Wings franchise. She is also the mother of two hockey-playing sons, further connecting her to the sport.
