Mansfield News Journal opens voting for high school football player of the week

The Mansfield News Journal has opened nominations for the Week 2 high school football player of the week. Readers can participate in the online poll until 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. The poll follows a slate of nonconference games featuring standout performances from area athletes. Madison's Damarrion Lloyd earned last week's honors after receiving 1,328 votes. Notable performances in Week 2 included Ontario’s Cardae Brown recording three touchdown catches in a win over Tiffin Columbian and Madison’s Damarrion Lloyd rushing for four touchdowns against Norwalk. Other contributors included Shelby’s Brady Bowman, who returned a punt for a score, and Clear Fork’s Marcus Hoeflich, who accounted for two touchdowns against Lexington. The voting window serves as an interactive recognition of recent individual athletic displays across the region.
