Marc Marquez takes MotoGP points lead with San Marino grand prix win

Marc Marquez secured his fifth victory of the season at the Misano circuit in San Marino on Sunday, moving to the top of the MotoGP drivers' standings. The 33-year-old Spaniard finished 0.657 seconds ahead of his brother Alex Marquez, with Pedro Acosta completing the podium in third place. Pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi crashed out of the race on the second lap. Jorge Martin, who held the previous championship lead, finished in fifth place. Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin are now level on 274 points after 14 races, but Marquez holds the lead due to his superior number of race victories. The championship continues with the next round in Austria, scheduled for 18-20 September.
