Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed voiced his intent to secure a victory against the Texas Longhorns in the upcoming Lone Star Showdown. The teams are scheduled to play in College Station on November 27. Since Texas joined the SEC in 2024, the Aggies have lost both rivalry meetings against the Longhorns. Reed has accounted for 326 passing yards and three interceptions across those two previous matchups. While Reed and Texas quarterback Arch Manning participated in the Manning Passing Academy together this summer, Reed expressed a clear competitive motivation for the scheduled contest at Kyle Field. The annual rivalry resumed in 2024 after a long hiatus that followed the Aggies' departure from the Big 12.
