The Seattle Mariners have claimed catcher Willie MacIver off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays and assigned him to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. MacIver, who made his MLB debut in 2025 with the Oakland Athletics, adds depth to the Mariners' catching options as they pursue a playoff spot. Currently, Seattle's starter is Cal Raleigh, with Jhonny Pereda serving as backup. MacIver previously played for the Washington Huskies and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2018, hitting.272 during his college career.
