Mariners pursue Astros manager Joe Espada for vacant position

The Seattle Mariners have obtained permission to interview Houston Astros manager Joe Espada for their managerial vacancy. This comes as Espada's contract with the Astros is set to expire at the end of the month. After a disappointing 76-86 season in 2026, the Mariners parted ways with manager Dan Wilson and are seeking leadership from outside their current system. Espada has extensive experience, including a World Series title and seven AL West division championships with Houston, making him a strong candidate to help Seattle return to contention.
