Mariners trade Luis Castillo to White Sox ahead of deadline

Summary

The Seattle Mariners traded pitcher Luis Castillo to the Chicago White Sox on August 2, 2026. This marks the Mariners' first move of the trade deadline season. Castillo, who quickly became a fan favorite since joining the Mariners in 2022, had been consistent in prior seasons but struggled in 2026. The Mariners received Seranthony Dominguez and prospect Nolan Jones in return. The trade reflects Seattle's depth in their starting rotation and a strategic move to bolster the bullpen.
