Mark Abel returns to coach Blue Mountain girls tennis after coach's death

TennisMark Abel returned to his position as Blue Mountain girls tennis head coach this summer, filling the vacancy following the death of Oscar Ney in late May. Abel previously served as the program's head coach during the 2019-20 school year and maintained relationships with most of the current roster through outside training. The Eagles have opened their season with a 5-2 record, securing consecutive victories against Pottsville, Southern Lehigh, and Hamburg. The team currently holds the fifth spot in the District XI Class AA power rankings. Abel’s return to the program followed discussions with athletic director Doug Morgan and outreach from parents and players. Blue Mountain is scheduled for a match against Saucon Valley on Wednesday afternoon.
