Mark Kieffer joins Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Former Rochester Mayo basketball coach Mark Kieffer will be inducted into the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on October 24. The ceremony takes place at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest Hotel in Brooklyn Park at 2 p.m. Kieffer finished his coaching tenure in 2004 with a 264-147 career record in the Big Nine Conference. He led the program to state tournament appearances in 1996 and 1997 while balancing a 30-year career as a physical education teacher at the school. Known for a demanding coaching style that emphasized defensive intensity, Kieffer maintained long-term relationships with many of his former players. The upcoming event will include attendance from dozens of athletes who played under him during his time at Mayo and his initial stops in Durand, Wisconsin, and Bellville, Texas.
