Mark van Bommel appointed head coach of Belgium national soccer team

Summary

The Belgian Football Federation announced Mark van Bommel as the new head coach of the senior national soccer team on July 24, 2026. Van Bommel's appointment follows the decision not to retain Rudi Garcia after the 2026 World Cup. He previously managed Royal Antwerp from 2022 to 2024, achieving a league-cup-super cup treble in 2023. This marks van Bommel's first role as a national team coach.
