Maro Itoje returns to England squad for autumn training camp

Maro Itoje has been named in England’s 36-man training squad for a three-day camp that begins this Sunday. Head coach Steve Borthwick selected Itoje after the second row was rested during the summer tour, with the Saracens player expected to resume captaincy duties for the upcoming Test against Australia on November 8 at Allianz Stadium. While Courtney Lawes and Joe Marchant are eligible for selection following their returns from French clubs, both players must demonstrate form in the Gallagher Premiership before receiving a recall. The training group features several new inclusions, including Archie McParland and Kepueli Tuipulotu, as established half-backs Alex Mitchell and Ben Spencer continue their injury rehabilitation. Jamie George and Ollie Chessum joined the camp but are currently receiving medical treatment for groin and foot issues respectively. England will also play Japan and New Zealand later in the autumn.
