Marquette men's soccer defeated Northern Illinois 4-2 in DeKalb, Illinois, on August 27, 2026. Tomiwa Adewumi scored twice within the first six minutes, but Northern Illinois equalized with two headers from Luka Vasic. The score remained tied until Adewumi assisted on Mads Konrad Horgoien's game-winning goal in the 65th minute. Joey Buchanan added an insurance goal late in the match.
