Mary Singer becomes first to swim around Vashon Island without a wetsuit

Mary Singer completed a swim around Vashon Island on August 12, becoming the first person to accomplish the feat without a wetsuit. The swim, approximately 32 miles, lasted 15 hours and 28 seconds. Singer's journey into open-water swimming began after she moved to Vashon in 2016 and was inspired by other swimmers. Her swim crew included noted open-water swimmer Stephanie Zimmerman, who previously swam around Bainbridge Island. After her historic swim, Singer is focusing on recovery and adjusting to her new routine.
