Maryland basketball coach Brenda Frese joins the Athletics Hall of Fame

University of Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese will be inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 16. The university announced the honor for the veteran coach, who has led the Terrapins since 2002. Throughout her tenure, Frese has secured 14 conference titles, a national championship during the 2006 season, and 631 career victories for the program. Her current contract extension keeps her with the team through the 2028-29 season. In additional athletics news, the Maryland football team prepares for its season opener against Hampton on Saturday. Meanwhile, the women’s lacrosse program added commitments from Class of 2028 recruits Maddie Moran and Carly Aldridge. The university also received recognition from USA Today, which ranked the school third among best colleges for sports fans and fifth for best mascot.
