Maryland Charm claims inaugural WLL championship with seven alumni

Seven former Maryland women’s lacrosse players led the Maryland Charm to a 16-13 victory over the California Palms, winning the inaugural WLL championship on August 16, 2026. Alex Aust Holman scored the game-winning goal, completing a hat trick, just 10 months after giving birth. Alongside Aust, Erica Evans played a key role, contributing defensively throughout the match. Maddy Sterling and other Maryland defenders successfully thwarted California’s offensive efforts. The championship marks a notable achievement for Maryland's women's lacrosse program, which has a significant alumni presence in professional lacrosse.
