Maryland field hockey overcomes two-goal deficit to defeat Duke in shootout

No. 13 Maryland defeated No. 6 Duke 3-2 in a shootout at a neutral site on Sunday. Duke took an early lead behind goals from Ashley Stockdale and Juliette Schulten in the opening quarter. Francisca Eschoyez narrowed the margin for Maryland in the second quarter, and Ella Beach forced overtime with a goal in the 58th minute. Goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko recorded three saves during regulation and added three more in the shootout to secure the win. The result brings Maryland to a 4-0 record on the season while marking their first win over a top-10 opponent this year. This victory marks the first time Maryland has defeated Duke since 2022.
