Mason West traded to Portland Winterhawks from Chicago Blackhawks rights

Mason West was traded to the Portland Winterhawks as part of a blockbuster move involving the rights of the 2007-born forward. The Blackhawks selected West with the 29th pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Following his high school career at Edina High School and a year with the Fargo Force in the USHL, West's future with Michigan State hockey remains uncertain. The trade also included a first and seventh round draft pick previously acquired from the Vancouver Giants.
