Mathys De Carvalho leaves Olympique Lyonnais for Saudi club Al-Diriyah

Olympique Lyonnais confirmed on Monday that midfielder Mathys De Carvalho has completed a permanent transfer to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Diriyah. The 21-year-old product of the French club’s academy signed a contract running until 2029. Lyon will receive a transfer fee of €1.1 million for the player, and the French club has retained a 10 percent share of any potential future transfer fees. De Carvalho made 22 appearances for the senior team after debuting under manager Paulo Fonseca in September 2025. He chose the move to Saudi Arabia following interest from several clubs in the domestic French league and Portugal. At Al-Diriyah, he joins a roster that includes Chancel Mbemba, Idrissa Gueye, and Enzo Millot under the direction of manager Bruno Lage.
