Matt Barnes says Stephen Curry will remain with the Golden State Warriors

Former teammate Matt Barnes stated on the All The Smoke podcast that Stephen Curry intends to spend his entire NBA career with the Golden State Warriors. Barnes compared the situation to Kobe Bryant, who played 20 seasons exclusively for the Los Angeles Lakers. While Curry has expressed a desire to be a one-team player and is eligible for a contract extension, he explicitly stated he does not want his final years to mirror the late-career struggles of Bryant. The Lakers missed the playoffs in each of Bryant's final three seasons following an Achilles injury. Curry acknowledged that while he aims to remain competitive, he recognizes the difficulty of being a perennial title favorite in the current league. The Warriors finished the 2025-26 season with a 37-45 record and did not qualify for the postseason.
