Matt Basgall, former captain of the Michigan State hockey team, has signed a one-year contract with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL. The Gulls, affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, confirmed the signing on July 15, 2026. Basgall completed his college career this past season, contributing to Michigan State’s third consecutive Big Ten championship. During his time with the Gulls at the end of last season, he recorded one goal and one assist in six total games.
