Matt Bloom resigns as Rutgers Prep boys basketball coach after nine seasons

Matt Bloom has resigned from his position as head boys basketball coach at Rutgers Prep School after nine successful seasons. Under Bloom’s leadership, the team recorded a 173-64 overall record, including three Somerset County Tournament championships and a state sectional title in the 2021-2022 season. His resignation follows that of Hall of Fame coach Mary Klinger, who retired from the girls’ team in June. Athletics director Larry Santowasso indicated that a search for Bloom's replacement will begin shortly, with associate head coach Wil Abrams reportedly a candidate. Bloom plans to remain at the school as a humanities teacher.
