"Can Danhausen uncurse Zack Ryder, err, Matt Cardona? | (Photo: WWE) Zack Ryder, by any other name, would still rack up losses in WWE. That’s been Matt Cardona’s story since returning to the company in January. After rebuilding himself on the independent scene and returning under his real name, Cardona continues to eat pins like he was still the “Long Island Iced Z” of old. Despite a dismal win-loss record (Cardona has just three wins in 14 matches in 2026, according to Cagematch), his goal remains the same: win the Undisputed WWE Championship. While that seems like an uphill struggle, his path to the top might have become a little clearer after asking Danhausen for help. On Sunday, Cardona thanked Danhausen on X for famously uncursing the NBA’s New York Knicks, ending their 53-year championship drought. Now, Cardona is hoping wrestling’s magical demon can do the same for him. Hello naked Zack Ryder, Danhausen will think about it but also you owe Danhausen the @ImChelseaGreen wedding ring still. You left before paying your dues. WWWYKIhausen https://t.co/g1BLtQlfBX — Danhausen (@DanhausenAD) June 14, 2026 “These past five, six months since I’ve come back to WWE haven’t exactly gone my way,” Cardona said in a video that included a series of his 2026 lowlights. “I’m not sure if I’m cursed, but if I am, please, uncurse me.” Danhausen responded, saying he’d “think about it.” If WWE hasn’t already considered it, their exchange on SmackDown — where Cardona gave Danhausen his watch to keep the Knicks uncursed — could lead to something. In his “Daily Update,” wrestling writer Dave Meltzer advised his readers to expect WWE to “heavily push” Danhausen. One way WWE could capitalize on the Danhausen craze is by pairing him with WWE’s longtime loser and using his spells to propel Cardona from mediocrity to the world title. That might make for some interesting TV. If nothing else, it beats watching Cardona get beaten like a drum for the zillionth time.
