Matt Stutzman to compete for 2028 Olympic archery team in Los Angeles

Paralympic gold medalist Matt Stutzman is coming out of retirement to pursue a spot on the U.S. Olympic archery team for the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The 43-year-old from Iowa aims to qualify for the newly introduced mixed compound event, which features one male and one female archer per team. Stutzman made history at the 2024 Paris Paralympics by becoming the first armless archer to win gold, scoring 149 out of 150 in the men's compound final. The trials for the U.S. team will involve multiple competitions leading up to the Games in 2028, and Stutzman is currently estimated to be among the top 15 men's compound archers in the U.S.
