Matthew Hudson-Smith regains European 400m title in Birmingham

Matthew Hudson-Smith celebrated his return to the Birmingham track by winning the men's 400m at the European Championships on August 13, clocking 44.17 seconds. This victory marks his fifth European gold, a milestone that ties him with Roger Black and Mo Farah. The event was held at the Alexander Stadium, where Hudson-Smith, a Wolverhampton native, had a temporary stand named after him. French athlete Muhammad Abdallah Kounta finished second, and Dutch runner Jonas Phijffers took bronze with a national record of 44.41 seconds.
