Matthijs de Ligt provides fitness update amid recovery from surgery

Summary

Matthijs de Ligt of Manchester United shared a positive injury update as he recovers from back surgery. The procedure, performed in May, aimed to address an ongoing issue that had sidelined him since a Premier League match against Crystal Palace on November 30. De Ligt, who had been in top form prior to his injury, expressed his initial reluctance for surgery but ultimately chose it over missing more games. He recently posted a workout video on Instagram and is expected to return to team training early in the 2026/27 season, although he will miss pre-season activities.
