Maverick Baranowski and Luke Drzewiecki honored as Big Ten Players of the Week

Maverick Baranowski and Luke Drzewiecki of the Minnesota Golden Gophers received Big Ten Player of the Week honors following their performances in the Gophers' 27-24 victory against the Washington Huskies on September 26, 2026. Baranowski, a linebacker, led the defense with seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack, while also recording his first career interception. Drzewiecki, the kicker, made both field goals and three extra points, including a career-long 51-yard kick that contributed to the win. These honors come after another Gophers player, Javon Tracy, was recognized earlier in the season.
