Mavericks acquire Santi Aldama, hire Willie Green as assistant coach

The Dallas Mavericks have made a significant move by acquiring Santi Aldama from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for A.J. Johnson, a protected 2030 first-round pick, and two second-round picks. Aldama, a 7-foot forward, averaged 14 points and 6.7 rebounds last season, providing valuable scoring and versatility to the Mavericks’ lineup. The team also announced the hiring of Willie Green as an assistant coach, elevating him to the top assistant position under head coach Dusty May. Green, who declined an offer from the Golden State Warriors, has previous experience as an assistant coach with the Warriors and the Suns. Aldama will earn $17 million this season, with an option for 2027-28.
