Mavericks consider Kyrie Irving trade as deadline approaches

Summary

Kyrie Irving's future with the Dallas Mavericks is uncertain as the February trade deadline nears, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Irving missed the 2025-26 season due to an ACL injury but remained engaged with the team, mentoring rookie Cooper Flagg. The Mavericks might consider trading Irving, who has a $42.4 million player option after the 2026-27 season, to maximize his value while he is still under contract. Speculation surrounding potential trade destinations has emerged, with teams like the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors cited by fans as possible fits.
