Mavericks initiate extension talks with Dereck Lively II before season

The Mavericks aim to lock in a possible extension before the new season starts in October, avoiding complications should Lively enter restricted free agency next summer. Lively was an All-Rookie selection, averaging 8.8 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 74.7% when healthy.
