Max Hansmann of UE is drafted by Washington Nationals in MLB Draft

Max Hansmann, a senior pitcher from the University of Evansville, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the eighth round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 12. This selection marks the first time a Purple Ace has been drafted since 2022 and the 47th in the program’s history. Hansmann was picked 226th overall, making him the highest selected player from the program since 2014. He ranks seventh in program history for appearances and fifteenth for strikeouts.
