McClain Hermes wins sprint paratriathlon with guiding partner Jenna Haufler

McClain Hermes secured first place in the Women’s Sprint Paratriathlon Visual Impairment 1 group on August 9, finishing the event in 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 52 seconds. Hermes, alongside her guide Jenna Haufler, executed a strong race consisting of a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run. Hermes, who transitioned from swimming to triathlon after competing in two Paralympics, highlighted the importance of communication with Haufler during the race, where she relies on vocal cues for navigation. Hailey Danz, another notable competitor, aims for the 2028 Paralympics after a successful run in Milwaukee.
