McGroarty scores game-winning goal as Penguins tie series against Marlies

Rutger McGroarty netted the game-winning goal with three minutes remaining as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Toronto Marlies 4-3 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on June 4, 2026. The Penguins leveled the series at 2-2 after overcoming an early 2-0 deficit. Toronto initially surged ahead thanks to a couple of mistakes by goalie Sergei Murashov, but WBS responded with three consecutive goals in the second period. The Marlies equalized on a power play late in the third period before McGroarty's decisive score. The series is now an impromptu best-of-three heading into Game 5 in Toronto on June 6.
